50 Self-Care Ideas



Taking care of ourselves is a lifetime journey. Invite yourself to practice many of these ideas to care for your body. If you are a responsible person, you may struggle with the concept of doing these kind gestures for yourself, but it is clear that the scripture reminds of kindness to ourselves. Ps 139: 14 states that we are wonderfully made. Mindfulness and routines in caring for our physical needs is central to overall health. Find one or two ideas off this list and incorporate them.

  1. Rest.
  2. Pray
  3. Read your Bible out loud by yourself or with someone.
  4. Give more hugs.
  5. Give generously.
  6. Prioritize sleep. Aim for 8 hours nightly. Establish a nightly routine.
  7. Read books. If this is a struggle, start by reading for 10 minutes a day or reading a chapter a day. Set small bite size goals.
  8. Do yoga.
  9. Practice breath prayers.
  10. Practice mindfulness.
  11. Lift weights.
  12. Take a walk.
  13. Move your body for 30 minutes every day.
  14. Try a new type of exercise.
  15. Use moisturizer regularly.
  16. Do something that lights you up.
  17. Sit outside in the sun before 11am. Soak in the happy endorphins.
  18. Take a bath.
  19. Do a face mask.
  20. Practice a manicure and pedicure at home regularly.
  21. Take supplements.
  22. Practice good posture.
  23. Wear comfortable shoes.
  24. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily.
  25. Eat food that is fresh and close to the source.
  26. Eat more protein.
  27. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
  28. Eat less sugar.
  29. Create margin in your day…every day.
  30. Practice silence.
  31. Sing.
  32. Dance.
  33. Play a song on your guitar or favorite instrument if that is in your skill set.
  34. Play your music loud in your car.
  35. Continue to learn about women’s health.
  36. Floss and brush your teeth twice a day at least. Establish regular dental cleanings.
  37. Take a class about something you have always wanted to do.
  38. Create a new playlist for this season.
  39. Schedule a massage. If you usually do a 60 minutes, commit to 90 minutes.
  40. Speak life giving words to yourself.
  41. Call a friend.
  42. Do something fun with a friend.
  43. Talk to someone about your dreams.
  44. Verbalize gratefulness each day. Name 5 things you are grateful for daily.
  45. Forgive someone.
  46. Be compassionate toward yourself and others.
  47. Organize one small area.
  48. Cuddle with your pet.
  49. Snuggle time.
  50. Smile…Just smile.
